We’re at Holkham’s Christmas Market next weekend
Find us at the Walsingham Farms Shop stall in the outdoor festive chalets.
Clovis, our Vineyard Manager, will be sampling our full range of 2023 vintage wines. Whether you’re looking for something special for your Christmas table or searching for a gift, this is an opportunity to taste before you buy.
What You’ll Taste
The 2023 vintage earned recognition from some of the most respected names in wine criticism. Our Pinot Noir received Jancis Robinson’s highest rating among English Pinot Noirs under £25. Jane MacQuitty featured it as her top English red pick in The Times, describing “vibrant, jolly, red plum fruit.” Both our Bacchus Reserve and Pinot Noir won Bronze medals at the WineGB Awards.
At the tasting, you’ll have the chance to try:
Solaris 2023 – Elegant and fresh with floral aromas, citrus and stone fruit notes. Aged on lees for two months.
Bacchus 2023 – Aromatic elderflower, green apple and lemon zest. Crisp and easy drinking. Hand harvested.
Bacchus Reserve 2023 – Distinctive gooseberry and elderflower aromas with aromatic herbs and fresh cut grass. Made from our ripest grapes.
Pinot Noir 2023 – Bright cherry red with fine tannins, soft red plum and berry flavours. Naturally wild fermented in stainless steel.
Sparkling Bacchus Brut 2023 – Refreshing apple, gooseberry and elderflower with a smooth, clean finish. Traditional method.
Sparkling Bacchus Demi-Sec 2023 – Ripe stone fruit, elderflower and gooseberry with subtle biscuity notes. Norfolk’s only Bacchus Demi-Sec.
Traditional Method Sparkling
Our sparkling wines are made using the traditional method, the same process used in Champagne. Made with 100% Bacchus grapes from our Stiffkey Valley vineyard, they offer something distinctive from the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir blends typical of most English sparkling wines.
The Demi-Sec is particularly special. Off-dry and elegant, it pairs beautifully with desserts or can be enjoyed on its own as a celebration wine. We’re one of very few English producers making sparkling wine in this style.
Matches for the Christmas Table
If you’re planning your festive menu, our wines pair beautifully with seasonal dishes. The Solaris is a gift for anyone who loves a Muscadet sur lie. Aged on lees for two months, it has that same elegant minerality and works wonderfully with oysters, mouthwatering with local lobster and smoked fish.
The Bacchus and Bacchus Reserve are natural partners for Cromer crab, mussels or a goat’s cheese salad. For the main event, our Pinot Noir sits elegantly alongside roast goose, venison or a festive pork pie.
And for pudding? The Demi-Sec with trifle, shortbread, custard tarts or crème brûlée is rather special.
Christmas Gifting
Wine makes a thoughtful gift, and there’s something meaningful about giving a bottle from a local vineyard. Our wines tell the story of the Stiffkey Valley, of Norfolk terroir, of centuries of land stewardship on the Walsingham Estate.
If you’re not sure which wine to choose, Clovis will be happy to guide you. He can recommend wines based on the recipient’s taste preferences or suggest food pairings for Christmas dinner.
